Young Dancers Competition
The Young Dancers Competition is an annual dance competition for young and aspiring amateur dancers
Established in 1981 by Florence Ruston, a founding member of Denver Ballet Guild, the competition has been working with young dancers for over 30 years. It is an opportunity for over 200 young dancers to work with a nationally known master ballet teacher and showcase their talents. The dancers compete for funds which will help them continue their dance training.
All dancers take a master class then the older dancers go on to perform their variations. A panel of judges selects the best dancers in each category to perform their variations on stage. This performance offers an opportunity for these young dancers to experience performing before a live audience. Scholarship awards are handed out to the best in their categories.
Some former winners of the competition now perform or teach with dance companies across the United States and internationally.
